Many actors, such as cities and companies, are showing growing interest in biodiversity offsetting—some of them are already fully engaged in it. Two years ago, Biodiversity Offsetting as an Operational Tool for a Just Sustainability Transition Towards No Net Loss of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (BOOST), research project published the first publicly available versions of calculators that enable the calculation of nature losses and benefits. Now, updated versions of the calculators (V1.0–2025) are being published, along with an updated report serving as a user guide for the calculators on biodiversity offsetting in a low-rise residential area to be built in Kauramäki, Jyväskylä. The new calculators make offsetting calculations more straightforward and user-friendly.

At the launch event, researchers from the BOOST project will demonstrate the new calculators, present example calculations for Kauramäki, and answer questions from the audience.

The updated calculators and report will be available for download at: https://zenodo.org/communities/suomikompensaatio/
